If you have always enjoyed the likes of Cabaret Voltaire, Clockdva, Chrome and more raw industrial music but are now feeling the urge to drift into ambient music, Tauchsieder’s album Louder will gentle ease you in to a peaceful world. It’s ambient music with a hard edge. Some hypnotic stuff and some blippier sequence stuff on the edge of German electronica like Klaus Schulze. Check it out it’s highly addictive!
Their web site www.tauchsieder.co.uk redirects to last.fm Listen to the full re-mastered album here: Tauchsieder Louder. And you can download it all for free. Nice one!

Another release by Gulan, whose work is inspired by the music of Klaus Schulze, Michael Stearns, Robert Rich, Tangerine Dream. The tracks range from ambient electronica to more of a Berlin-school feel.
I am not usually into meditation music, and frankly bought Sphere because I liked the sound clips that I heard. But, after listening to the CD front to back, I was amazed at the journey that this music takes you through. Unlike other ambient music that sounds like repetitive sheet music, this album comes off like a work of art with great ingenuity.
Beautiful passages with slight variations that sweep your mind into the journey that is Gulan.
The first two tracks start with much motion and activity, the long third track Altai changes the mood with placid tonal passages, then tracks 4-6 bring you back into a flurry of mind trips. The last track, Synthetic-x is a fitting poignant ending. I just hope that there is a sequel to this album I will certainly buy it!
“Sphere”, which comes with great cover art, starts in the same manner as his album “Cassiopeia”: warm, drifting textures of the title track embrace the listener with tranquil, ethereal sonics.
The 11-minute “Airway-2″ is more active, as the textures have a stronger symphonic and deepening sound and are accompanied by nice sequencing.
Next comes “Altai”, the longest track on the album, an almost 18-minute tranquil, slow meandering floater, nicely followed by the expanding, planetarium soundscapes of “Cosmophonia”.
“Airway-4″ and returns to the more active, sequenced style. The only minor point on the album is the freeform “Abstracto”, which sounded a bit rough to my ears.
All in all, “Sphere” is a well produced and composed cosmic journey which lots of ambient/space fans will surely embrace.
Nicely done !

As Brian Eno invented ambient music we thought it would be a good idea to list our favourite five albums for relaxation.
1 Music for Airports
In 1st place is the LP that started the ambient phase of music for many of the followers. Music for Airports was the first of four releases of the Ambient series on EG called Ambient Music Volume 1. This four track legendary album has two tracks with minimal vocals on tape loops running at different speeds to collide with each other in a harmonic and gentle way. While the other tracks have piano melodies on tape loops of different lengths. Each track has similar sound pattern but equally very distinct. You can’t fail to relax with this album. Eno conceived the idea of these peices while stuck at Cologne Bonn Airport in Germany.
2 Plateaux of Mirror
Plateaux of Mirror is an Eno collaboration with US pianist Harold Budd. Here wre are treated to 10 lovely tracks of piano and ambience form a brilliant partnership. The Album is the second volume of of the Ambient Music series
3 Music for Films
Music for Films is a classic album with some beautiful tracks, bringing all types of ambient relaxation possibilities. More varied than Eno’s Ambient Music series providing a more pleasurable selection to choose from. Some of the tracks are faster and more rhythmic but there are also some classic soundscapes to drift off to.
4 Discreet Music
Eno collaborated with Robert Fripp on No Pussyfooting in 1973. This was minimal music but it was two years later where Eno took stages further into the ambient genre releasing Discreet Music. This was the first true ambient release. On the obscure label, it was relatively obscure release and didn’t sell like Music for Airports but paved the way for such releases a few years later. Discreet Music is a calming album that uses tape loops to generate the music on side one, while side two has slowed down versions of Pachelbel’s Canon.
5 On Land
On Land adds elements of nature into the what’s now becoming a familiar Eno style. Less meditative but highly relaxing collection of tracks.
Well that’s our choice. We love most of Brian Eno’s albums but many are more pop or rock based so didn’t need including here.
Let us know what you think. List your top five Brian Eno albums below.

I have meditated for 20 plus years, and knowing that it keeps me grounded and serves as my gratitude time to the higher power, God, higher self, whatever you want to call it.
I have studied and practiced different types of mediation over the years. Starting with, one of the techniques of focusing on my body, from head to toe with ever so relaxing music to total silence. I have used the candle focusing technique. Which, I feel works great for the visual focus technique. When you find the right practice or technique that works for you, it becomes easier and easier to meditate.
I think sometimes, my quiet time is just great for reading selected scripture and other spiritual profound words and contemplate those words. With all the negative and tragic events that bombard our minds, eyes and ears every day, it is so vital, in keeping our balance mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. I believe it is and must be a part of everyday living, like exercising and eating healthy. It should become an automatic behavior like breathing.
I feel that, it is that important for all or us to do this to keep our reality and peace of mind and body. We only live once on this earth. To my knowledge and don’t you want to be happy, healthy and joyful? Life is too short, to spoil and corrupt it with perpetual negative and unhealthy habits.
I am acknowledging how meditation is absolutely, necessary for our well being, and I have found an added bonus that assists us further in this process, with my research. There has been a huge amount of research done on how subliminal music and sounds affects our conscious and subconscious mind. I think we all need stress reduction in our lives, whether you live in the urban, suburban or rural place.
The news and internet blasts more than enough negative and bad images and messages to us every day. We all need more tools and ways to circumvent these detrimental influences in our everyday lives. My research has uncovered another approach that I find is extraordinary in facilitating in our stress release. This technique reaches the waves and currents in the brain. It assists the engineering of how we feel about certain activities and thoughts and satisfies the calming and tranquility that we all want to feel.
The music on these CD’s are created for many applications of what you want to accomplish relaxation and energy. I love the tranquil music CD. I felt calm and peaceful after listening. I listen to it as much as I need to. The only way you can experience this feeling is to try it for yourself.

If you’re suffering anxiety and stress, know that you are not alone. With the financial crisis going on a global scale, plus, the onset of the flu pandemic, we can only worry more. There are so many pain relievers out there that will take out the pain from migraine. What an instant relief, and before we know it – we become addicted to these little miracle pills.
Surely, there are many alternative ways in feeling much better and becoming healthier: from healthy diets, exercises, meditation techniques, aromatherapy, to the very music you listen to. Healing from music may be frowned at by some people who have an innate dislike for classical masterpieces like those of Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, and many others.
There are innovative ways in getting relief from music therapy. In fact, modern sound therapy is not only relaxing, but it is infused with alpha wave frequencies that are simply soothing. You may not hear it, but your brains can feel it. As defined by the American Music Therapy Association, Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy improves the quality of life for persons who are well and meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.
Music doesn’t only heighten your senses, but it can help your mind focus and stay sharp. Rhythm has a calming effect that can promote relaxation and healing, down to the cellular level. When you’re worry-free, your body feels like floating in cloud nine. Such wonderful positive feeling is a gift that you can enjoy.
Here are Tips on How to Get the Most Out of Your Music Therapy:
- Choose the right music that makes you feel calm and make sure you will love listening to it.
- Play music that will gradually lift up your spirits, especially when you’re feeling depressed.
- You can choose inspirational or motivational music with a speaker who is guiding you on how to reach a deep state of relaxation.
- Make sure you’re well-prepared to listen. This means you are in a comfortable place and clothing, minus the outside distraction.
- Listen – without Interruption!
- Don’t just listen to the music, but feel it. Let the sound fill the very core of your being. Imagine energy filling you with each beat, reaching your very cells, healing every damage.
- Pause and bask in moments of silence after having listened to a great piece.
- Keep an inspirational journal where you can write your thoughts and feelings after a profound, relaxing session with sound.
Always remember that when you feel good, your body will feel the same. Let the power of music heal you from within.
